Compliance-IBC

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) reviews research involving recombinant and synthetic nucleic acid molecules in compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

The role of the IBC is to review research involving recombinant and synthetic nucleic acid molecules. The purpose of this site is to provide MWU investigator, research staff, and students all the information needed to work in a safe environment. Registration is required to be compliant with federal and state regulatory agencies.

The following websites provide guidance for the safe practices in research and the regulations regarding research using recombinant and synthetic nucleic acids. In addition, the documents also provide guidelines for the proper containment practices for Risk Group 1 and 2 agents that are used at the campuses of ذكذكتسئµ. ذكذكتسئµ is not approved for the use of Risk Group 3 agents at this time.

All project registration or changes to existing projects begin by contacting Nicholas Cronk, email ILORSP@midwestern.edu, with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. From here, you will be directed to contact the Biosafety Officers at either Downers Grove, IL or Glendale, AZ location. Dr. Adebayo Molehin is the Biosafety Officer for the Glendale, AZ campus and Dr. Richard Laddaga is the Biosafety Officer for the Downers Grove, IL campus.

IBC Meetings

The IBC meets as needed. Meetings are tentatively scheduled for the third Monday of the month, but this is subject to change with member availability. All new project registrations or changes to existing projects should be submitted to Nicholas Cronk four weeks prior to the next IBC meeting. Principal investigators should contact Nicholas Cronk to inquire about upcoming meeting dates.
